Week 12, April 1st - John Elliott - Tuba and Other Animals
Join John Elliott, who apart from being a tuba player of renown, is also the master of a multitude of weird and wacky instruments that toot, growl, honk and grumble - but all in the most beautiful and musical way!
So if you want to know the difference between a Cimbasso and a Serpent, or a Tubax and an Ophicleide, John will introduce some of his collection backed up with many funny stories associated with them.
And yes, that picture is of John playing a sousaphone on a unicycle - all will be revealed!
So far we have enjoyed conversations about Beethoven with pianist and conductor Chris Hopkins, ballet music with Birmingham Royal Ballet's conductor Phillip Ellis, film music from top session musician Steve Henderson, the world of the bass operatic singer with Brindley Sherratt, discovered Bach's Chaconne with violinist Elizabeth Cooney, played along with Bodhrán star Kieran Leonard, heard RPO flautist Emer McDonough's flute philosophy, created music with multi-instrumentalist and animateur Sarah Freestone, got funky with bass guitar supremo Steve Pearce and discussed conductors with Mick Doran

April 24, 2021. Lord Pirbright's Hall. 8pm
The Pirbright Arts Chamber Ensemble perform a variety of music for dance from across the centuries by composers such as Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Piazzola.
PACE is an invitation orchestra made up of star players from London's orchestras.
During the day we will also have free events featuring Natalie Davis bringing you a Broadway style dance routine, suitable for all ages and capabilities, and Pirbright Ballet School's Heidi Marshall introduction to ballet for children.

World famous drummer Steve White
(Style Council, Paul Weller, The Who, The Family Silver) heads up an all-star band for an evening of great rock n' roll standards. Dance, singalong, get out the air guitar, eat, drink or just sit back and listen; you'll have a great time.

Steve White, supreme performer, teacher, and presenter of Sky TV's The Art of Drumming, kicks off the day with a drum clinic/workshop for all ages and abilities.
Richard Strange (Doctors of Madness) invites you to brunch while he performs his one man show An Accident Waiting to Happen.

Described by The Independent as a "seminal figure at the crossroads of art, film, music and counter culture" Richard presents a collection of songs, stories, film clips and downright scurrilous gossip from his experiences of working with Tom Waits, Frank Zappa, The Sex Pistols, The Damned, Marianne Faithfull, Jack Nicholson, Harmony Korine, Grace Jones, Tim Burton, Damon Albarn and Jarvis Cocker, among others.

Enrico Tomasso and his All Stars.
July, 2021. Lord Pirbright's Hall. 7.30pm.
With an international reputation as one of today's finest jazz trumpeters, Enrico Tomasso's biggest inspiration was Louis Armstrong, whom he met and played for as young boy. This led to a correspondence and friendship until Louis' death.
Enrico brings his lively personality, fine command of his instrument and stylistic invention to this joyous and uplifting show featuring his 6-piece all star band.

The Turner Prize winning artist comes to Pirbright for an exploration of the visual arts. Meet the artist, as he talks about his career and chooses 5 inspirational works of art accompanied by related music.
From 3.30pm there will be a free exhibition of works by selected local artists.
During the day talented young artists from local schools will create a temporary public work guided by Mark Wallinger. The work will be on public display from 4pm.

Beethoven - The Man Revealed.

Classic FM's John Suchet offers us a fascinating and touchingly human insight into Beethoven. Award-winning broadcaster, journalist and Beethoven expert, John vividly brings the great composer to life.
